Call of Duty Zombies Standalone Game Could be on the way

Call of Duty has undergone some important changes over the last few years. While Warzone has continued to keep a steady player base with updates and fixes, Call of Duty Vanguard couldn't retain them. This has led to a shakeup in the way Call of Duty operates. With hints at a standalone zombies mode, it seems like next year is getting even bigger. Here's what we know so far.

Call of Duty Zombies Standalone

Recently, Tom Henderson, a games industry insider, has claimed that a team are working on a new zombies experience for Call of Duty. It's early in its development cycle right now and not connected to another title.

Before analysing this news, it's important to qualify who we are getting it from. Tom Henderson is a big industry insider who is generally up to date on most gaming news. Given that he has a huge platform, keeps his ear to the ground and has to report on anything substantial, not every thing reported always comes out the way it is described but this is down to the nature of leaks in general.

Though the reporting can be accurate, the team can change ideas after this news comes out. For this reason, you should take this with a pinch of salt, while acknowledging it's probably reasonably close to what's going on right now.

How Would This Work?

As it is not currently linked to a title, this points to a standalone zombies experience. It could be an entirely new AAA release or perhaps a slightly cheaper game to tide people over until the new CoD release next year.

Call of Duty Vanguard's zombies mode was a little different - with a more linear story and progression. This could be the prototype for a whole new story based zombies experience. Something bigger and more expansive than we've seen before. Either way, if something happens, we will update you right here.
