Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Farm 18 Map REVEALED
On Thursday, August 11, 2022, the developers over at Infinity Ward took to the official Call of Duty Twitter to reveal one of Modern Warfare 2's maps, Farm 18. They also detailed its development process.
In a video on the Twitter post, the director of multiplayer design at Infinity Ward, Geoffry Smith, discussed how the idea came about, stating they wanted to create a similar "Shoot House type situation" that allows players to take on different playstyles in the middle of the map.
“Farm 18 came out of the idea of—we kind of like the Shoot House facility map, so we decided to think of hidden training facilities,” Smith said. “But it’s also in an industrial cement factory, and the idea was, what if we put a Shoot House-type situation in the middle? If you really want to play that crazy game, you can go to the center and that action will find you. If you want to pull back and play a different way, it’s still available to you.”
Senior Artist Ashley Thundercliffe added that “it’s a perfect balance between all departments trying to find the perfect harmony to ensure we got a beautiful realistic looking space while also being fun for the players to enjoy.”
Farm 18 will be part of the CoD MW2 beta, which will arrive in late September which fans of the franchise will be able to learn more about during a showcase set to broadcast on September 15.
