As we learn more about AEW Fight Forever, it's looking like story mode will be the star of the show for this first outing.
Here's everything we know so far about the AEW Fight Forever story mode and how it might compare to WWE 2K22 MyRISE.
AEW Fight Forever story mode is their primary focus
While official updates have been few and far between, we're slowly learning more about the upcoming launch of AEW Fight Forever.
According to a new report by Mike Straw of SGO, we've got further confirmation that story mode will be the major focus for developers this time.
One source told Straw that "the expectations were set when games like No Mercy and Here Comes The Pain were said as inspiration," alluding to titles that had good enjoyable gameplay but lacked some of the customization we see today in WWE 2K22.

WWE SmackDown! Here Comes The Pain is an especially interesting comparison when it comes to story mode, as an exclusive story mode was a massive selling point of that title.
This latest report by Straw and previous ones back up a series of goals including branching storylines, decisions changing the direction of the story, and the ability to replay story mode multiple times.
All of these have been a key focus for Kenny Omega, who has pushed hard for the title to have a quality story mode from the very beginning.
It also may have to carry the bulk of the title's excitement, as we've also learned the creation suite in AEW Fight Forever is likely to be quite limited.
WWE 2K22 MyRISE was great, but AEW Fight Forever may have an edge
With the focus on story mode, there will undoubtedly be comparisons at launch to WWE 2K22 and their revamped MyRISE story mode.
There will be some definite similarities based on the reports we've heard so far, as all three main goals outlined above are factors that MyRISE brought to the table this year.
However, the news of a limited creation suite may inadvertently tip off something that could be a major asset to AEW Fight Forever.
We're shy of confirmation, but it's sounding more and more like the story mode in AEW Fight Forever will have you playing as actual AEW wrestlers.
This would be a stark contrast to the created character style WWE 2K22 used, as the only way to play through storylines as an existing superstar is in Universe Mode.
Even then, Universe Mode brings with it a series of challenges and the fact that it was built more as a sandbox, something noticeable even in the new Superstar Mode.
There's still plenty of time before we'll know exactly how good the AEW Fight Forever story mode will be, but right now signs are good for it to give MyRISE a real competitor.
