Cosmetics are a huge part of Apex Legends' regular content drops, but Respawn Entertainment always ensures that these cosmetics drops are paired with something a little more substantial. In the Dark Depths Event, this comes in the form of a new Arenas map. We now know how often you'll be able to play it - keep reading for everything you need to know about the new Arenas map that was added during Apex Legends' Dark Depths Event too!
UPDATE - New Arenas map rotation confirmed
Habitat 4 is here and we have everything you need to know about when you can play it. For the first 24 hours, Habitat is going to be available exclusively in Arenas.
Then, when this ends at 10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 18:00 GMT, it will enter a 60-minute rotation until January 18th. After this, we should see it available in the standard 15-minute rotation with all the other available maps.
When does the new Arenas map drop?
Apex Legends' next update is expected to release at the following times:
- 10:00 January 11th - PST
- 13:00 January 11th - EST
- 17:00 January 11th - GMT
It's worth noting that Respawn Entertainment hasn't confirmed the specific time, but we can hazard a guess that this is when the update will drop based on previous updates and in-game events.
As far as we're aware, the new Arenas map will be added to the Arenas map rotation at the start of the event.
Habitat - Apex Legends' new Arenas map
Storm Point isn't the only tropical island in the Outlands - Habitat is based on another island in the New Antilla archipelago and it's going to feel familiar, but offer something new for the secondary PvP mode.
You can check out some screenshots below and read through what Respawn Entertainment has shared...
" Habitat 4 was inspired by Leviathans and how it would feel to fight in their breeding grounds. It represents our vision of an arena established in a natural environment, while holding true to the tentpoles of arena design."
" Two primary POIs rest on higher ground on opposing sides: the Cave and the Nest. The Nest is full of precious, giant Leviathan eggs which make for great cover, as the hardened egg shells are tough as steel. The focus is mid to long-range combat with a great vantage point of the map."
" On the opposing side of the Nest, the enclosed space of the Cave offers a sense of security and protection. Fights are focused on mid-range and close combat, allowing for a variety of strategies and fast pushes on timely shield breaks. Sacrificing cover and controlling the Cave's center will give you a leg up, as it overlooks the map's mid-field and one of the airdrops."
Apex Legends' Dark Depths Event is due to start on January 11th - it should last three weeks and conclude on February 1st. At the moment, we're not sure whether Habitat is going to replace a map currently available in Arenas - or if it's just going to add to the rotation. We're expecting Patch Notes soon, so keep an eye out for more.
