The Chaos Theory Event is here and it wouldn't be an Apex Legends update without a few weapon changes, would it?
Apex Legends Chaos Theory event is right around the corner and the latest update is making a few key changes to the weapons you can use in-game as well as balancing the Champions themselves.
Below, we have everything you need to know.
LATEST - How's That Mastiff?
With the Chaos Theory Event out now, we're going to talk about how the Mastiff still holds up as a viable weapon.
You'll be pleased to know, it still does! The damage lost is pretty unnoticeable given the close-range nature of the combat the Mastiff affords.
Similarly, though, the fire rate also doesn't really seem too much of a tweak.

If you play Apex Legends a lot you might notice that you're getting through shots a little quicker but for those who play at a more casual level and like to mix up their weapons, you might not.
But, this is a good thing, right? The Mastiff wasn't that broken in the beginning so it didn't need fixing. What do you think?
Apex Legends' Latest Weapon Updates

The Mastiff Shotgun is being tweaked slightly.

And the Hemlock Burst AR is going to be a little different going forward.
- Increased hip-fire spread.
With all this in mind, we have to ask... Is the meta changing with these weapon updates going into the Apex Legends Chaos Theory event?
Is Apex's Meta Changing?
Honestly, we're not so sure.
The Mastiff Shotgun being weaker could have a huge impact on how it is used given the fact that it's increased fire rate is unlikely to make a difference.

Respawn Entertainment offered the following as an explanation...
" ... These changes are to place this weapon’s identity... The Mastiff has consistently been dominant in close quarters combat... This change reduces that high damage potential in order to limit the amount of two pumps players experience on the receiving end."
In addition to this, the changes to the Hemlock Burst AR are very telling with how Apex could shape up in the future.
Evidently, close-quarters combat and rushing tactics are becoming much more viable so Respawn's added hip-fire recoils is obviously attempting to limit this.
Here's what Respawn had to say...
" The burst damage from the Hemlok's hip-fire was feeling a little too consistent for an AR that should excel at medium range. This change mitigates the Hemlok’s close quarters damage spikes that felt bad on the receiving end."

We're not too sure either of these changes is going to make a huge impact instantly, but if they are well-enough received we could see rushing tactics in Apex Legends become less viable going forward.
The Apex Legends weapon updates come into effect when the Chaos Theory Event begins at around 18:00 GMT / 13:00 ET on March 9th, 2021.
