After the acquisition of Obsidian Entertainment by Microsoft a lot of exciting titles and ideas were shown and mentioned by the much-beloved studio.
Perhaps the most exciting of all of these titles is Obsidian's next big RPG, a title by the name of Avowed. Here is everything we know so far ahead of the Xbox & Bethesda Game Showcase!
LATEST - Avowed Potentially Showing up at Xbox Showcase
Obsidian Entertainment design director Josh Sawyer has teased that the studio will be making an appearance at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase on June 12th 2022.
Quote retweeting the Xbox announcement with "anyway" followed by a painting nails emoji, Sawyer seems to be coyly hinting at a reveal for Obsidian at the showcase with the most likely candidates being The Outer Worlds 2, Grounded and, of course, Avowed.
Due to Avowed not having an official delay yet, it would make sense for the RPG to make its full debut at the event ahead of a late 2022 release.
What is Avowed?
Avowed is Obsidian Entertainment's next first-person RPG set in a fantasy world. Obsidian, best known for their work on 2010's Fallout: New Vegas and 2019's The Outer Worlds revealed the title at Xbox's July 2020 event and has mostly been quiet since regarding the title.
What we do know is that Avowed is a spin-off title for Obsidian's popular Pillars of Eternity series, being set somewhere in the world of Eora from those games. While we are unsure of the nature of its connection beyond that fact and some visual continuity within its reveal trailer, it's interesting to see such a drastically different style of RPG have any relation whatsoever.
What is the Avowed Release Date?
As of writing, there is no official release date confirmed for Avowed past outside of a blanket "2022". While there have been no confirmed delays for Avowed, there also haven't been any official updates regarding it either with the title missing Xbox' E3 2021 event.

With a Microsoft and Bethesda conference set for June 12th 2022, many are hoping that we will finally get a new update on Avowed alongside other currently M.I.A titles such as Fable but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Is Avowed coming to Xbox Game Pass?
Due to Obsidian Entertainment now being owned by Microsoft, Avowed is an Xbox Game Studios published, first-party title. What this means is that Avowed will be available for all Xbox Game Pass subscribers at launch for no extra cost.
