Another Free Game Announced Going Into June

Alright, this isn't specifically linked to Games With Gold... But, it is a free Xbox game so we figured that you'd want to know about it. Both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players will be able to get their hands on another free title as we head into June 2021 and the new Games With Gold games line-up.

Super Bomberman R Online is going to be a free-to-play Bomberman experience that features cross-platform play with PlayStation consoles and PC.

It's due to release on May 27th and should be properly free-to-play following Xbox's removal of Xbox Live Gold requirements on free-to-play titles.

It looks like Super Bomberman R Online is going to feature a few collaborative skins (We see you, Solid Snake!) and we can't wait to dive back into the simple but competitive nature of Bomberman games from May 27th.

Free Play Days In The Meantime?

If you're looking for something to do this weekend and Black Ops Cold War's Double XP Weekend isn't drawing you in, there's always a couple of games available to play via Xbox's Free Play Days promotion!

Gears 5 and F1 2020 are both being added to the Free Play Days promotion for the weekend and that also means they'll be on sale!

From May 20th at 00:01 PST / 03:01 EST / 08:01 BST until May 23rd at 23:59 PST / 02:59 EST (May 24th) / 07:59 BST (May 24th) you'll be able to play both of these titles for free.

Gears 5's Standard and GOTY Editions are going to be 60% off during this time and F1 2020 Standard Edition and F1 2020 Deluxe Schumacher Edition are going to be 75% off!

When's Major Nelson's Announcement?

We all know this by now, but Xbox's Larry Hryb always announces the upcoming Games With Gold titles at the same time each month. We're not sure how they decided on this and we're not sure why they leave it up to Major Nelson to drop the knowledge, but it makes this thing terribly easy to predict (for the most part).

We should be getting the June 2021 Games With Gold announcement on May 25th at around 11:00 EST / 16:00 BST. It's always on the last Tuesday of the month.

IT'S A BLUR - Could we see this iconic racing game join Games With Gold next month?

If it seems a little earlier than usual, May ends on a Monday! That means June's Games With Gold games should be announced exactly a week before they become free.

When Will June's Games Be Free?

But, what day is a week from May 25th? June 1st, of course!

Xbox doesn't add all its Games With Gold games to the service at once, though. They often add one Xbox One game and one Xbox 360 game on the 1st of the month, then they rotate the other two titles in mid-month.

The best way to explain this is for you to look at an old announcement. Here's April's, for example:

As you can see, Vikings: Wolves of Midgard and Dark Void were available at the start of the month and then Truck racing Championship and Hard Corps: Uprising were both added in the middle of the month.

This Month's Predictions

This is the big gamble of the month; What games do we think we're going to see from Xbox Games With Gold in June 2021?

Firstly, let's talk about the two Xbox One games...

We think Warriors Orochi 4 and Train Sim World could be on their way to Games With Gold in June 2021. We know they're unusual picks, but Xbox always likes to surprise us.

Warriors Orochi 4 is the Dynasty Warriors x Samurai Warriors mash-up hack-and-slash that you need to play. It follows on from Warriors Orochi 3, but that won't stop you from enjoying the wonderful combat gameplay it has to offer. Especially in its hard-hitting 3v3 multiplayer modes.

As for Train Sim World, this pretty much does what it says on the tin. It's the first Train Sim title to actually feature first-person gameplay outside of the train and its global scale makes it one of the best titles in the genre to date.

As for the Xbox 360 titles, we're thinking that Blur and Lego Indiana Jones 2 could be up for grabs. We know we've just got a Lego game, but who could say no to another right?

Blur is one of those niche racing games that definitely deserved more love when it first came out. It wonderfully blends arcade racing with real-world vehicles and locations to create a wonderfully intense experience that annoyingly addictive.

Of course, though, these are all predictions so we don't know for sure what we're getting just yet.

Leaks, Rumours & More

At the moment, we don't really have any solid leaks to report. There are whisperings that it could be a better month than usual given the fact that Xbox is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, but we don't know anything concrete just yet.

Alan Wake is another title a lot of people think might pop up, as the game turned 11 on May 14th, but that is as much of a wild prediction as our predictions above. We know Xbox never gives us what we expect to see.

For the latest, keep an eye on Major Nelson's Twitter account and the official Xbox social media channels.
