We all know Xbox prioritises Game Pass nowadays, but Xbox's Games With Gold service is always lurking in the background. It offers up to four free Xbox games each month and they're usually pretty crummy in comparison to the same month's PS Plus offerings. Still, September 2021 could be different and we're here to talk about our predictions for next month's Games With Gold lineup.

The September lineup for Xbox Games with Gold has been revealed! Warhammer: Chaosbane and Mulaka are the Xbox One titles on offer while Zone of the Enders and Samurai Showdown 2 are the 360 titles included.
What free Xbox games do we think we're getting?
Making predictions for Games With Gold is tough as Xbox can draw on its entire library of games - thanks, backwards compatibility!
With this in mind, we're going to take a punt on the following two Xbox One games as being in next month's Games With Gold line-up:
- Assassin's Creed III: Liberation
- Never Alone
Assassin's Creed III: Liberation is an underrated Assassin's Creed III spin-off title that actually takes place alongside the events of the mainstream title. It follows Aveline de Grandpre, an African-French Assassin and the series' first female protagonist. It's a wonderful excursion into the wider world of the Assassin's Creed franchise and makes the most of Assassin's Creed III's wonderful gameplay mechanics to deliver another wonderful narrative.
In addition to this, Never Alone is one of those games you're going to remember playing for a long time after you play it. It's a fantastic retelling of a traditional Iñupiaq tale - Kunuuksaayuka - that's easily one of the best indie games we've ever seen.
Older titles like Portal 2 and Dead Rising are always on our wishlist for Games With Gold and a predictions list wouldn't be complete without a "shoot your shot" mention of a game like Cuphead. How accurate are we, though? Only time will tell...
When do we find out whether we're right?
Xbox's Larry Hryb - known by his online moniker Major Nelson - has the honour of announcing the upcoming Games With Gold games each month. We don't know how he got this role, but he always makes the announcement at the same time of the month so it's easy to work out when we find out if our Games With Gold predictions are right - or not.
Xbox's September 2021 Games With Gold announcement is due to arrive at the following times:
- 08:00 August 25th - PST
- 11:00 August 25th - EST
- 16:00 August 25th - BST
This is the last Wednesday of the month. The announced titles should be available for Xbox Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members from September 1st.
