WWE No Mercy 2017: 5 worst moments

Despite some quality wrestling, No Mercy wound up being a letdown by the time it went off the air. These moments stood out as the worst of a rough night.

Before the event, WWE No Mercy looked half-decent with two “WrestleMania-caliber” main events headlining the show pitting John Cena against Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar defending the WWE Universal Championship against “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman. Despite all that promise, and some quality wrestling along the way, there were plenty of flaws in the night. These five moments were the worst of a rough night.

  1. 1 Enzo Amore is the new Cruiserweight Champion

Neville defended his Cruiserweight Championship against Enzo Amore between the two "WrestleMania-caliber" main events, but things didn't exactly go like the King of the Cruiserweights would have liked. Neville carried the match in the wrestling department, and Enzo showed nothing more than we've seen from him before.

On top of that, Enzo used blatant cheating to pick up the win despite being the babyface in the match. While WWE has hinted at this in recent weeks, his choice to cause a distraction and pick up the win after an obvious low blow came off as a pitiful end to Neville's reign as Cruiserweight Champion.

  2. 2 Cesaro will need emergency dental work

As great as the tag team title match was, Cesaro losing two teeth easily has to go down as one of the worst moments of the night. Cesaro proved himself as resilient as they come by not letting it slow him down or preventing him from continuing, but it wasn't exactly a moment he wanted.

Cesaro bled all over the place, and there's no way his collision with the turnbuckle post felt good. After the contest, Cesaro got some stitches in the back before heading off to get some emergency dental work done. It didn't detract from the match itself, but still a bad moment for the former champion.

  3. 3 Jason Jordan's awkward post-match interview

While The Miz and Jason Jordan had a solid opening contest that ended in The Miz picking up a stereotypical heel victory, it was the post-match interview that put a damper on things. To begin with, getting interviewed in the ring after a loss isn't exactly a normal choice.

It clearly hinted at an eventual rematch between The Miz and Jason Jordan, but also showed Jordan's visible flaws when it comes to mic work. The whole thing took away from the opener more than it added and put an awkward finish on a solid start to the show.

  4. 4 Does Bray Wyatt have any credibility left?

The match itself wasn't terrible, but did anyone actually care about it? This rivalry has fallen flat from the very start. While the concept of "The Demon" taking on "The Eater of Worlds" sounds great on paper, it's been rushed and poorly written. Finn came out looking solid after definitively finishing off Wyatt and hopefully ending this feud, but where does that leave Bray?

At SummerSlam, Bray was defeated by "The Demon." Tonight, he used a pre-match attack to weaken his opponent and went up only against "the man" but still couldn't finish the job. WWE has consistently booked Bray to look extremely weak after failing to defeat...everyone? What credibility does he have as a threat after another clear failure?

  5. 5 Brock Lesnar buries Braun Strowman's momentum

We expected a "WrestleMania-caliber" clash of titans to top off a great night, but it proved to be the anti-climactic nail in No Mercy's underwhelming coffin. The match started solid and got the action going quickly, but it felt pretty terrible by the time it was over.

Braun Strowman completely dominated Brock Lesnar nearly the entire time, including delivering several running powerslams that were unable to keep the champion down for the three count. After one F5, Strowman was pinned clean. While it could have made sense for Brock to endure and eventually take out Strowman, picking up such a sudden win after only one big move really killed all of Braun's momentum. It was yet another questionable decision to put the cap on a questionable night.
