There was no WWE 2K21, but WWE 2K22 could be coming

Unfortunately, WWE and 2K Games hit a major roadblock when WWE 2K20 was released that has continued to affect the series even as fans look towards WWE 2K22.

While WWE 2K21 got completely cancelled, the outlook is more positive when it comes to a series return in 2021.

Will there be a WWE 2K22?

There hasn't been an official announcement or reveal for WWE 2K22, but things look much better than they did for WWE 2K21.

When WWE 2K21 got cancelled, there was turnover in 2K Games as they brought in industry veteran Patrick Gilmore to improve the series as they move forward.

We also got a great indicator recently as Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that 2K Games had representatives at the Royal Rumble in late January to record voiceovers for the series and had plans to scan most or all of the WWE roster.

How will the series move on from WWE 2K20?

The development cycle looks to have the gears moving, which means WWE 2K22 is likely to be happening and shouldn't be cancelled like WWE 2K21.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Fans are hoping for some changes with WWE 2K22

There were big issues with quality and overall gameplay in WWE 2K20, but there's been a renewed commitment to improving that as 2K Games and WWE look towards a possible WWE 2K22 release.
