New year, new show. We take a look at the some best independent wrestling in the first week of 2018

United States

Pro Wrestling Phoenix present Year of the Phoenix VIII on Friday at The Waiting Room Lounge in Omaha, Nebraska. The show will be main evented by their massive tag wars match where four teams will do battle for the PWP tag team championships. Tickets can be purchased here.

In Minneapolis on Saturday, F1rstWrestling host Wrestlepalooza XI at First Avenue. Wrestlers scheduled to appear include Colt Cabana, Shane Strickland, Candace LeRae and many others. The show will also include live music and burlesque performers. Tickets and all other information can be found here.

Also on Saturday, American Combat Wrestling are hosting their New Year Classic 2018 event at The Gulf view Events Center in Florida. The show will be streamed on WWN Live. Visit their website for all information.

In Texas, Old School Wrestling start their year on Saturday with Revolution Calling at the MCM Elgante Odessa venue. The show will include a tournament to crown a new O$W Champion. All information can be found on their website.

United Kingdom

Attack Pro Wrestling begin their year with featuring some of your favourite wrestlers on Friday at The Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham. No matches of yet but expect to see talent such as Pete Dunne and Ryan Smile. Tickets are sold out but the show will be eventually be available on demand.

Hope Wrestling start their year with Freakshow 8 on Friday from The Hairy Dog venue in Derby before moving to Leicester the following day for Evolution 56. Fridays show will include El Ligero vs Eddie Dennis and Cara Noir against Chris Brookes. While the following day will see The Urchin Prince Drew Parker wrestle Chief Deputy Dunne, and El Ligero against Brady Phillips. Information for both shows can be found at their website.

Two shows from Revolution Pro this week with Live at the Cockpit 24 and 25 on Saturday and Sunday. Both shows will include a tournament to crown the British Womens Championship starting on Night one, with the participants including Deonna Purrazzo, Jinny and Millie McKenzie. The show will also include an appearance from WWE UK champion Pete Dunne as he wrestles El Phantasmo. Night two will see Zack Sabre Jr go one on one with Martin Stone as well as the finals of the Womens tournament. All information, including tickets and on demand can be found on their website.

In Leeds, Rise Pro Wrestling host The Rise Rumble at the Brudenell Social Club on Saturday. The show will include a Rumble match for the Rise Championship, with the entrants including current champion Pastor William Eaver, El Ligero, Amir Jordan and Nina Samuels. Our Canadian coverage this week takes us to Alberta for Prairie Wrestling Alliance, who present their Genesis show on Saturday. No matches announced yet but visit their website for all information.

Mexican promotion, Promiciones TSW host their first show of 2018 on New Year Day at the Arena San Juan Pantitlan. The show will see Black Warrior Jr. against Thunder Storm, Bandido vs Niebla Roja and Heddi Karaoui wrestling Toro Negro Jr. 

Our first visit to Hungary this week for Hungarian Championship Wrestling. The countries top promotion host Attores 2018 on Sunday in Budapest. In the main event, Nitro defends the HCW championship against Kris Jokic, Boldo Brown wrestles Alan Lee Travis, plus in a massive tag match Chris Colen & Zafar Ameen do battle against Tristan Archer & Senzo Volto.
