WoW Classic: World Buff Fix Arrives After 6 Phases

After more than a year of WoW Classic's existence, pushing through 6 phases of content releases with months in-between, Blizzard have finally pushed forward a fix for the Classic WoW World Buffs problem - a new item called The Chronoboon Displacer.

Is this an early April Fool's Joke, or is The Chronoboon Displacer the solution to Classic WoW World Buffs?

Here's what we know so far.

World Buffs in Classic WoW

Many players have had gripes with Classic WoW's World Buff system since the early phases of the game.

POWER UP: World Buffs have been a massive problem in Classic WoW

Issues include being unable to play the game with World Buffs on to save them for raiding, having World Buffs removed by PVP combat before getting to raids, and having to rely so heavily on getting and maintaining World Buffs to perform up to par with many classes.

With a new item teased by Blizzard on Tuesday, March 30th in a Blue Post you can find here, The Chronoboon Displacer, we might have an answer for these problems just before WoW Classic TBC arrives and renders it nearly useless.

What is The Chronoboon Displacer?

The Chronoboon Displacer is a new item coming to Classic WoW if this isn't a very poorly timed early April Fool's Joke from Blizzard.

In the announcement, WoW Developer Pazorax states - "The Chronoboon Displacer is an item you buy which takes a snapshot of your world buffs, such as Rallying Cry of Dragonslayer, Songflower, etc. and saves them for use at a later time."

The Chronoboon Displacer will have a 1 hour cooldown, and will be purchasable from Chromie after completing a quest in the Western Plaguelands.

Blizzard Explains Timing

The timing is frustrating for many players, fixing a massive problem with the game just before tens of thousands of its players move on from it forever.

A BIG STEP: Blizzard is fixing an age-old problem with Classic WoW at the end of its lifespan

But Blizzard have given an explanation as for why The Chronoboon Displacer would be revealed now.

"We launched Classic with an intent to keep the game data the same as it was originally, and we wanted to make sure we delivered on that promise, but now that we’ve been through all the content phases we planned before launch, we took a step back to consider what it really means to have the world buff system stay this way in Classic Era."

THE FUTURE: WoW Classic TBC is in the balance

If Blizzard takes this method of development into WoW Classic TBC, problems like the War Drums issue in the expansion may not truly be solved until near the end of WoW Classic TBC's lifespan.

But if the community reacts positively enough to The Chronoboon Displacer being added to WoW Classic - things might change come The Burning Crusade.
