Valorant Players Discuss Commend System Like in League of Legends

Valorant players have had long discussions discussing improvements for Riot Games' Valorant. The key Reddit discussion that keeps arising is the idea of a commend system for the game.

Teamwork in Valorant is what is key to winning games. Some of the best pro teams out there become famous because of the synergy that their team has. However, finding players who are like-minded is often a painful task which can lead to many losses.

This is why Valorant players have expressed the desire for a commend system just like in League of Legends. This will not only help players to feel recognised but will help Riot to draw out the toxic players.

Valorant discussions

Valorant players on Reddit have been discussing a potential commend system designed by @moistgravy. Explicitly stating that this was to "combat toxicity" the user paired together past commend systems by Riot to create his own Valorant system.

Their idea showed a screen post-game which gave players the option of three honours:

  • Calm and Collected - Tilt-proof, chill, positive
  • Good Teammate - Good comms, supportive, helpful
  • The Shotcaller - Leader, great strategy, tactics

The honours would scale up in points which would lead to rewards for those who are nice in the game. Agents honour levels would also be displayed before entering a game so teammates would feel comfortable playing with them.

Comments under this well-executed idea thought that it was a "shallow" attempt at trying to get players to reduce toxicity. Whereas some praised the good design and well-thought-out ideas.

Riot's response

Despite Riot's active status on Reddit, there have been no developers who have commented under this thread. But as the discussion has been active for a few years, maybe Riot is looking to implement a similar system for its players.
