The Spurs (43-32) are waiting on the availability of center LaMarcus Aldridge after he suffered a bruised left knee in their 116-106 loss at Washington on Tuesday night. Arguably the hottest frontcourt player in the Western Conference, Aldridge had 13 points and four rebounds before suffering the injury late in the second quarter.
As they wait on Aldridge, who had averaged 32.4 points and 8.7 rebounds in the previous seven games after being moved to center and replacing Pau Gasol, the Spurs announced Kawhi Leonard will again sit out due to his quadriceps injury.
After back-to-back road losses, the Spurs are back home looking for an eighth straight win at AT&T Center. San Antonio have limited opponents to 92.7 points per game during their home winning streak and have outscored opponents 131-88 off turnovers in that stretch.
Oklahoma City (44-31) are fourth in the Western Conference and chasing Portland for the Northwest Division lead, but the Trail Blazers completed a season sweep by pinning a 108-105 home loss on the Thunder on Sunday.
Russell Westbrook had 23 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, but was not on the court for the final seconds after committing his sixth personal to extend the game. Carmelo Anthony, who finished with six points on three-of-13 shooting, missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer as he missed all five of his shots from beyond the arc.
But the bigger issue was a lack of rebounding as the Thunder were bounced off the boards by a 49-39 count and allowed 21 second-chance points, eight more than their season mark of 12.9 per game.
