Who is Thanasi Kokkinakis?
Thanasi Kokkinakis is a 26-year-old Australian tennis player from Adelaide who is the long-term doubles partner and best friend of 2022 Wimbledon finalist and first-round opponent Nick Kyrgios.
2022 has been a strong year for Kokkinakis, who currently occupies the 70th spot in the world rankings heading into the US Open, just one place shy of his career-best placement of 69th, achieved in 2015.
Kokkinakis has also claimed his first career singles title this year, claiming victory back in his hometown of Adelaide. He also has one Men's Doubles title to his name with him and Kyrgios tasting victory at the Australian Open earlier in the year.
