Rafael Nadal had to do things the difficult way in his Wimbledon 2022 first-round clash with Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo, narrowly avoiding a fifth set after dropping the third set to the underdog.
The legendary Spaniard is through to the second round though, and with a host of his major rivals already eliminated, Nadal will fancy his chances of rivalling Novak Djokovic for the Men's Singles title.
His second-round opponent is the little-known Ricardas Berankis. We take a look at the Lithuanian's career to date.
Who is Ricardas Berankis?
Ricardas Berankis is far from a household name among tennis fans, but the Lithuanian has been present on the pro circuit for a long time. Wimbledon 2022 will represent the Lithuanian's ninth Championships appearance, although he is yet to make it past the second round.
2022 is unlikely to be the year that the 32-year-old makes his third-round Wimbledon debut, given the calibre of his opponent. Berankis is currently ranked No.106 in the world but achieved a peak ranking of World No.50.
Berankis raised eyebrows in the first round of this year's Wimbledon Men's Singles Championship, booking his place in the second round with a straight-sets victory over one-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Sam Querrey.
