With home heroes Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu both having been eliminated on Wednesday, June 29th, British tennis could be set for a disappointing 2022 Wimbledon championships.
That said, there is still hope for the home nation and while ninth seed Cameron Norrie attracted headlines with his win against Jaume Munar, Liam Broady could be this year's fairytale story.
After his stunning victory over Diego Schwartzman on Thursday afternoon, Liam Broady will take to Court 1 to face off against another seeded opponent, Australia's Alex De Minaur.
Who is Liam Broady?
Liam Broady is a 28-year-old British tennis player who is currently the World No.132. He was entered into the 2022 Wimbledon Men's Singles competition as a wildcard and has made an immediate impact.
The Stockport-born player enjoyed success in the first round of the Men's Singles Championship, coming from a set down to beat Slovakia's Lukas Klein in five sets.
That victory has set up a clash with Argentina's Diego Schwartzman, who is the 12th seed for this summer's Championships and has reached five Grand Slam semi-finals before in his career.
Broady has never made it past the second round in his previous four main competition Wimbledon appearances, advancing through the opening round back in 2015 and 2021.
British tennis fans will be able to watch Liam Broady vs Alex De Minaur live on BBC One. Wimbledon 2022 games will be available on the BBC Red Button throughout the day.
Those with a TV license will be able to stream the game on the go through the BBC iPlayer app.
