When does 2022 Royal Ascot start?

Britain's most valuable race meet returns in June with the 2022 Royal Ascot just around the corner.

This year's Royal Ascot will be more anticipated than most given the celebration of HM Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. The Royal family is intrinsically linked to the Royal Ascot festival and Queen Elizabeth will be in attendance once again in 2022.

The event is home to some of British racing's most famous spectacles, including the Gold Cup, the Prince of Wales's Stakes and the now renamed Platinum Jubilee Stakes.

Punters will soon be flocking to Ascot Racecourse in their tens of thousands for the 2022 Royal Ascot. Here are all the key dates and timings you need to know for this year's proceedings.

When does the 2022 Royal Ascot begin?

In 2022, the festival will once again run for five days in June. This year's Royal Ascot will begin on Tuesday, June 14th and continues through to day five on Saturday, June 18th.

Day one of Royal Ascot commences at 2.30pm on Tuesday, June 14th, with the Queen Anne Stakes and runs through to 6.10pm with the last race of the day being the Copper Horse Stakes.

On day two, racing begins with the Queen's Vase at 3.05pm. The Prince of Wales's Stakes will also take place on day two of the festival with a scheduled start time of 4.20pm. The race has a prize pool of £1 million and is the joint-most valuable race of the week. Day two concludes with the Kensington Palace Stakes at 6.10pm.

Day three of the 2022 Royal Ascot brings with it the Gold Cup, scheduled to start at 4.15pm. The first race of the day is the Norfolk Stakes, which will take place at 2pm with the day's events once again rounding off at 6.10pm.

The Albany Stakes kicks off the day four action at 2.30pm with the Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes both to come at 3.05pm and 4.20pm respectively.

The final day of the Royal Ascot festival is on Saturday, June 18th, with the opening race getting underway at 2.30pm. The main event of the week, the Platinum Jubilee Stakes, will be starting at 4.20pm. The final race of 2022 Royal Ascot will take place at 6.10pm on Saturday evening.
