*CONFIRMED* Justin Thomas withdraws from Travelers Championship 2022

The PGA Tour returns to action this Thursday, as those remaining in the field head to the Travelers Championship.

One player who will not be teeing up this week is American star, Justin Thomas, who has confirmed his withdrawal from this week's event.

Here is everything that we know so far.

Justin Thomas Withdraws

The World No.5 was amongst the favourites to pick up the title at the Travelers, having been in fine form in recent weeks.

However, JT has confirmed that will not be teeing up at TPC River Highlands with the American taking to Twitter to announce his withdrawal from the event.

Thomas has confirmed that his withdrawal is due to a tweak to his back, citing that he is making sure it gets taken care of in order to be ready for the rest of the PGA Season as planned.

The confirmation of the back injury has shut down the inevitable rumours that JT was heading towards the LIV Golf Invitational, with Brooks Koepka the latest PGA star to jump ship earlier this week.

However Thomas will not be heading down that route, the American has openly expressed his love for the PGA Tour in recent weeks.

What is the LIV Golf Invitational Series?

The LIV Golf Invitation Series is a brand-new golf league, which is looking to rival the established PGA Tour and European Tour with a new-look format that the organisers declare will "supercharge the game of golf".

To date, there are eight events that are scheduled to take place in the first season of the LIV Golf Invitational Series, with the first being played in London a fortnight ago.
