The Women's EURO 2022 tournament kicks off on Wednesday evening when England Women take on Austria Women in front of a packed-out Old Trafford crowd.

The Lionesses are unbeaten in 14 games since Sarina Wiegman took charge and head into the tournament having claimed impressive victories over Belgium and reigning European champions Holland.

Sarina Wiegman's squad selection looks set to be fairly uncontentious heading into the Women's EURO 2022 opener. The Lionesses could line up almost unchanged from their pre-tournament clash with Switzerland with the only likely change being the reintroduction of Ellen White up front.

Austria will be sweating over the fitness of defender Carina Wenninger ahead of their Women's EURO 2022 opener. The AS Roma defender missed the 1-0 win over Belgium in late June through injury and remains doubtful for the trip to Old Trafford.

The visitors strolled through the qualification process for Women's EURO 2022, but have struggled at times since tasting defeat against England and Denmark in their last eight outings, while also being held to a 2-2 draw by tournament underdogs Northern Ireland.

Irene Fuhrmann's side will be aware of their poor record against the Lionesses with Austria having lost each of their last six competitive fixtures against their hosts. Hoffenheim's Nicole Billa will be pivotal if the visitors are to spring an upset.
