To further support these rumours a notorious Capcom Insider, AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem has suggested that there will be a larger focus on exploration in Resident Evil Village.
He also notes that Capcom is using the term "Metroidvania" when describing their approach to cyclical level design and the connectivity of in-game areas.
The term "Metroidvania" is a portmanteau of the names of two video game series: Metroid and Castlevania.
It is often used to describe inter-connected maps which players are encouraged to explore multiple times.
"Experience survival horror like never before in the 8th major instalment in the Resident Evil franchise – Resident Evil Village. With detailed graphics, intense first-person action and masterful storytelling, the terror has never felt more realistic."
Resident Evil Village launches alongside the mysterious multiplayer title Resident Evil Re:Verse.
It has also been updated to include confirmation that it will contain some nudity and sexual content in the latest SteamDB page update.
