Luka Dončić's return to the Dallas Mavericks line-up has given sneaker fans a first look at his new Jordan Luka 1 sneakers, the point guard's first signature release with the brand.
Their reveal arrived shortly after Rui Hachimura's Jordan 36s were showcased by Nike. As a result, 2022 looks to be one of the most exciting years yet for signature sneaker releases.
Not only that but the Luka 1 appears to have been influenced by the recently released Jordan 37s, especially when it comes to technology with the Luka 1s featuring Nike's new Formula 23 in the midsoles.
How do they compare to one of the best basketball shoes around right now though? Well, in our opinion, pretty well. Here's what we know about the sneakers so far...
Jordan Luka 1 Release Date
The Nike News article regarding the Luka 1s didn't disclose a release date for the signature sneakers; however, the Jordan Instagram page has since revealed that the Luka 1s are out now as of 24 September 2022.
The sneakers have debuted in a white and Neo Turquoise colourway so far, with the black design yet to be released as far as we can see.
Nike hasn't disclose information on the black colourway just yet, but we'll make sure to keep this article updated with the latest news as and when it's announced to ensure you stay in the loop.
While we don't know much about the black colourway, it looks like we have a little more information available regarding the design...
Jordan Luka 1 Design
Images of the Jordan Luka 1 in two separate colourways have been revealed thus far which include the aforementioned Neo Turquoise design and a contrasting black colourway pictured below.
Technology-wise, the sneakers feature new IsoPlate foot frames, designed with the multidirectional play of Luka Dončić in mind, plus new, full-length performance foam named Formula 23 in the midsoles.
According to Nike, Formula 23 is one of the most sustainable performance foams ever made by the brand.
Moreover, the foam is said to be lightweight, with improved responsiveness to help propel you during side-to-side movements such as crossovers and defensive slides.
In terms of the uppers, they're made from a combination of Flightwire cables and synthetic leather, while the Formula 23 midsoles, on this particular design, come dressed in white with black speckles.
Jordan Luka 1 Price
Although Nike kept the price of the Luka 1s a mystery, we now know that the sneakers cost $110 in adult sizing thanks to their official listing.
Smaller and presumably cheaper kids' sizes don't appear to be available just yet, although this may change in the near future. Stay tuned for further details on this right here.
