Codemasters has its roots in rally gaming. From Colin McRae all the way to DiRT Rally 2.0.
Their next release, DIRT 5, is a little different in its approach to off-road racing, with more emphasis placed on wheel-to-wheel, lapped races on anything but tarmac.
Their latest gameplay suggests they haven't left the rally world behind entirely though.
Obviously DIRT 5 has to give it a catchy name, but Rally Raid is just a point-to-point race across mud, gravel, rock, and anything else.
As a race it still has multiple cars on the course at the same time, allowing you to make some overtakes through the amazing landscapes DIRT 5 has created.
NOW WATCH BELOW - RALLY RAID GAMEPLAY
Captured on PC, this Rally Raid through a course in China shows off the incredible surroundings of DIRT 5 as well as several of the cars. These modern rally beasts include the Skoda Fabia R5 and Ford Fiesta R5 MKII.
They aren't the only cars able to take on these courses though, as trucks, buggies, and many more will be available.
Unpredictability in racing
“Another layer of unpredictability is added to DIRT in Rally Raid events. Your reflexes must be quick and you’ll need to be prepared for anything that comes your way.” said development director Robert Karp.
“A location like China is perfect for these point-to-point races. The team has created some awesome sprawling routes through a dense and varied environment, that are both visually and technically stunning.”
DIRT 5 lands on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on 6 November.
