2022 has been an amazing year for gaming, especially if you're a PS5 player.
From adventures through the Nine Realms to strolling the streets as a four-legged friend, the scope for 'best game' has never been broader.
With that in mind, we want to take a look at the top five best games for PS5 players in 2022.
Best PS5 Games of 2022
PlayStation is boasting a large portfolio of exclusive games and that train doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon.
Whilst this list will include some console exclusives, we'll also throw in some non-exclusives for the sake of balance.
Either way, there's sure to be something for everyone on this list.
5 - Metal: Hellsinger
Despite there being clear inspirations from other games and genres, Metal: Hellsinger does feel like an entirely unique experience from start to finish.
A brand-new FPS set in the depths of hell, this game is an experience that will surprise and delight you throughout your time with it.

You take on the role of Unknown, a mysterious protagonist who has their voice stolen by the Red Judge.
The story is simple but well-presented through beatiful cut-scenes that keep you fully immersed in the story's trajectory.
The combat in this game offers incredible fluidity and brutality, putting other games to shame.
Whilst it only comes in at number 5 on our list, it's certainly one of the best experiences we've had in 2022.
4 - Stray
Being a cat has never been more exhilarating, with the world created in Stray truly proving to be one of the most beautiful put to console this year.
With PlayStation being the only console this game is currently available on right now, Stray shines as one of the best games you can choose to play in 2022.

A real contender in anyone's Game of the Year, this simple but immersive story keeps you fully engrossed in the world of the game, whilst continuing to surprise you in the way your feline protagonist gets around.
In any other year, Stray would be pushing for the very top spot, but its 4th place spot on this list exemplifies just how good this year has been in the world of gaming.
3 - Elden Ring
Elden Ring is a game that hits you in the face with ruthless boss battles and endless exploration.
The fact this game only reached 3rd place will send some into a frenzy, but remember that we're also taking exclusivity into account on this list.
Whilst the main focus of Elden Ring is on the epic battles that feature throughout, this is a game steeped in lore and history.

FromSoftware Inc. crafted a game that not only pushed the boundaries of combat but also a world that is enriched with so much beauty that sometimes you forget that your next controller-breaking foe is just around the corner.
2 - Horizon Forbidden West
In our review of Horizon Forbidden West, we described the game as having the 'best open world of all time' high praise for a title that falls short of the top spot.
The story of protagonist Aloy's journey from East to West is one of great scope, using towers, bases, and collectables in smart ways.
Aloy is easily one of PlayStation's best protagonists and her journey throughout this game is both captivating and enthralling.

The game is hidden with a swarth of easter eggs throughout the expanse of this open world and you'll never get bored of exploring each unique nook and cranny.
The combat is intense and satisfying, the Western US setting makes for the best open worlds we've ever explored, and the story really cements Aloys' place in the pantheon of iconic PlayStation characters
1 - God of War Ragnarok
Taking the top spot is a late bloomer in 2022, but no one can argue that God of War: Ragnarok is one of the best, if not the best, game to release this year.
The sequel to the wildly popular God of War (2018), Ragnarok is an experience that cannot be defined, it's something you just need to play.
A story that is woven with rich history and lore combined with brutal and engaging combat structure makes God of War: Ragnarok a game you will never forget.

From a cast that lands a killer blow with every line to the expanse of the Nine Realms, the endless joy of Ragnarok rightfully place it atop of the RealSport101 throne for PS5 games in 2022.
Put it this way, Ragnarok is a game that - despite its year of release - would like always sit at in the number 1 spot, it's just that darn good.
