Has Horizon Forbidden West Been Delayed

While currently unconfirmed by Guerilla Games or PlayStation, Horizon Forbidden West has apparently been delayed and the decision was made some time ago.

Industry insider @JeffGrubb first broke the news as a rumour before @JasonSchreier confirmed this shortly after. Both are among the most reliable sources in the industry so this news is not expected to be refuted. The new releas date is expected to be in Q1 of 2022

2021 is the Year of the Delay

It's been a rough 18 months for the games industry, like many others, and Horizon Forbidden West being delayed is just another name added to an already long list.

Fortunately, developers having the confidence and conviction to delay their games is a sure sign of wanting to get things right the first time. Publishers also play a big role in this decision and their pressure is what can sometimes break a developers will and force them to adhere to certain deadlines.

All in all, the landscape of game development has changed recently for many reasons, one of which is the disastrous release of Cyberpunk 2077.

If any developers or publishers were ever in doubt that a studio needs to be respected when they say they need more time, they need only look at how CD Project Red handled that situation. Regardless of how much time they've may already have been in development, there is no point releasing a product the developers have little faith in.
