PES 2022 is set to bring the franchise back in a big way.
The game is being developed for Next Gen consoles, and we can't wait to take a closer work at what Konami has been working on.
PES games come in various editions, and with PS5 and Xbox Series X thrown in this year - we're here to help you choose the right one.
Standard Edition
The most common version of the game people will buy.
In the past, Standard Editions have including Premium Agents and Contract Renewals for MyClub as well as loan items for cover stars such as Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho.
Expect it to be very similar this year - with the PS4 and Xbox One version likely to cost £34.99 / $34.99.
As for the Next Gen version on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, we are thinking it will be at least £44.99 / $44.99 - but it will be interesting to see if Smart Delivery will apply for Xbox consoles.
Legend Edition
The Legend Edition is likely to give you a free PES Legend for MyClub, a longer duration for Premium Agents and Contract Renewals, the Legend Edition cover star as a player in MyClub as well as the standard cover star loan item.
Of course, we have no idea who the Legend Edition cover star could be, with David Beckham and Ronaldinho doing the honours in the past.
We're expecting the Legend Edition to cost £44.99 / $44.99 on Current Gen consoles and £54.99 / $54.99 on Next Gen platforms.
Other game franchises like NBA 2K have only allowed you to play on both Current and Next Gen with certain editions, so it remains to be seen what Konami does in that regard.
Club Editions
A great aspect of the PES franchise is that the partner clubs receive bespoke editions of the game.
In the past, Konami has offered a full club squad in myClub, free coins, a classic kit and an in-game menu club theme.
The Club Editions should only be a touch more expensive, for around £39.99 / $39.99 on PS4 and Xbox One, and £49.99 / $49.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Expected Club Editions
- Barcelona
- Bayern Munich
- Juventus
- Manchester United
- Arsenal
- Roma *NEW*
With Roma signing as a partner club last year, we'd be surprised if the PES exclusive doesn't receive the same treatment as the other sides.
Other possible inclusions could be Lazio, who have a partnership agreement with Konami, as well as Scottish rivals Celtic and Rangers.
Anything outside of that seems unlikely unless Konami secures further licences for PES 2022.
