Sojourn gameplay details revealed in Overwatch 2 Developer Stream

Blizzard Entertainment gave details on Sojourn and debuted an official gameplay trailer during a Developer Livestream focused on Overwatch 2's newest hero.

Sojourn Overwatch 2 gameplay revealed

As the first of her kind, Sojourn will be bringing a new flare to the game, as although she's similar to Widowmaker in that she has two types of weapons in her firing kit, players will be looking to play her on the front lines.

In many ways, she's the ideal hero for any DPS player as not only is she mobile with her Powerslide that has her slide across the map and jump high in the air, but she's also highly versatile in the way she does damage. She brings on the hit scan in her primary fire and can swap to projectile on her alternate fire her railgun. Additionally, her active ability, Disruptor, shoots a large energy shot that slows and damages enemies in the area.

"If you like both projectile and hit scan weapons or you're good with both, you can really show off Sojourn because she does have that kind of mix of both," Geoff Goodman said.

Her weapon's primary fire is a rapid projectile that generates energy on hit. That generated energy charges up her secondary, which is a high-impact shot that consumes that stored energy.

Sojourn can turn the tide

Sojourn can be described as "the answer" according to Art Director Dion Rogers, as she seemingly turn the tide of any battle due to her being able to fill any gap.

“In our playtests when we play Sojourn she’s the answer,” said art director Dion Rogers. “Like if we’re not dealing enough damage, switch to Sojourn and she starts to finish people off. If healers are too protected, switch to Sojourn and she’ll deal with them. There’s a bit of flexibility in her.

She rewards the player who likes to hit the "important shots" or "key picks," as she rewards aim skill above all else, "you can get a lot of fun and value out of Sojourn's kit," stated Goodman.

Sojourn will be playable once Overwatch 2's beta launches on April 26.
