Overwatch 2 is having a new feature added by Blizzard Entertainment to reduce toxicity in-game.
The new audio transcription feature means that players may think twice before they speak or type in the lobby.
Blizzard's Defence Matrix has caused a fair few issues within the Overwatch 2 community.
SMS protection shut out just under half of the player base and has continued to be an issue for players.
However, this new audio transcription looks like a better idea for the community.
So, let's take a look at what Blizzard's audio transcription is and how it will affect the community in Overwatch 2.

What is Audio Transcription?
Audio Transcription allows Blizzard to analyse transcripts from a temporary part of the gameplay.
Players will be made aware that their chat is being recorded before entering a game too.
However, for this to work effectively, players must report as close to the disruptive behaviour as they can.
This allows Blizzard to fine-tune the recording to just the needed section easier.

Where is this feature being used?
At the time of writing, this feature is only being rolled out to limited players in selected countries.
However, these countries have not been listed officially by Blizzard just yet.
Additionally, the type of 'disruptive behaviour' that is reportable has not yet been outlined.
This leaves interpretation up to the reporter and may lead to way more reports.
For the moment, it seems that this feature is only being used for a limited number of console players.
However, if it is successful, we should expect to see this for all players to reduce toxicity.
