Splatoon is an adventurous little shooter. Feeling Nintendo through and through, it never really got the reception it deserves on the Wii U and it took a Switch release for it to really shine. Now that we have a Splatoon 3 release date, this is sure to only get bigger. Here's what we know so far.
Splatoon 3 Release Date
Splatoon 3 will finally launch in just a few months on September 9th. This arrives just over five years since the second game and seven since the first. This has given it plenty of time in development - allowing it to really take in the lessons it has learned for a better experience.
This comes mere weeks after spotting the launch of the Japanese Splatoon site. In that, you can see tonnes of screenshots and hints at what is coming in the full game. We know there is a full-on singleplayer mode with a pretty whacky narrative that will send out main characters upside down and across different lands.
What's New?
As well as the scope of the single-player, we know they are bringing back Turf War but also shaping it in a new direction. Splatoon 3 will have brand new moves, weapons and maps. One such city map uses the verticality of it all to its advantage, allowing you to sniper enemies or hide in all those corners.
Salmon Run also returns with a fully-fledged co-op mode with brand new bosses.
If you happen to own Splatoon 2 and Nintendo Switch Online, you can now take advantage of the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion DLC as part of your membership. This is a great sign for the future and hints that we may receive Splatoon 3 DLC the same way. This would certainly make that membership more worthwhile. If any news updates come out or we receive any new leaks, we'll update you right here.
