Splatoon has had an interesting few years. Being a surprise hit on the WiiU, it took until the second game to really find its footing. Coming to a bigger audience with a more polished experience, it has been steadily growing over time. Luckily, with Splatoon 3 just around the corner, we are still seeing more information come out.

New Japanese Splatoon 3 Site

As spotted by Stealth40K, a new Japanese Splatoon 3 site has just gone live. In that, they share new screenshots and some information on the game itself. They go on to talk about how new areas, activities and weapons have been added to the game.

We are just working off a translation here so these names may change as the game is localised but they show off a new stage known as the "City of Chaos". It seems to add a certain verticality to fights - an especially interesting addition when considering you win by spraying the most land. You can see a picture of that below.

Splatoon 3 Release Window

At the very top of the page, Nintendo says that Splatoon 3 will be released in the Summer of 2022. This corroborates their previous release window. Although we already knew this, it's good to have confirmation so close to the launch. Games are still being regularly delayed so it's good to know this isn't planned for Splatoon 3.

Alongside this information, they talk about a new single-player mode that talks of the distinction between squid and mammals. It seems likely that the single-player mode will have a big focus this time around, bringing back old characters and bringing you to mysterious new lands. With a bit more of an industrial focus, it's hard to say where Splatoon 3 could go with its story. We'll have to wait to play it ourselves later this year.
