In what is perhaps the weirdest bit of crossover news in 2022, we officially have a Pokemon Ed Sheeran song on the way, with the popular UK artist announcing that his upcoming track "Celestial" was dedicated to the franchise.

A life-long fan since the age of seven, Sheeran was obsessed with the franchise as a child and is still a fan to this day, even playing his Childhood Gameboy Colour and copy of Pokemon Silver when touring the world and even joked about writing a song for the franchise when he met with The Pokemon Company.

Now the Pokemon Ed Sheeran crossover is a reality and here is everything you need to know about it.

Ed Sheeran Celestial Release Date

The Pokemon Ed Sheeran crossover song "Celestial" will be released worldwide on Thursday, 29th September 2022 and will be found on all available music streaming services.

One of the more exciting parts of this crossover is to see what the song will do for the franchise, which has seen a renewed popularity in recent years with a lot of older fans re-discovering the series through side games like Pokemon Go or even the new titles available on Nintendo Switch.

The video, set to release along with the song on streaming platforms, will be fully animated by the team over at Pokemon and is likely to include many references to the franchise as well as Sheeran's personal love of it, something which he talks about a lot in his Instagram post where he announced the upcoming track officially.
