This latest generation of gaming has been defined by its consistent stream of acquisitions with companies like Microsoft and Sony collecting some of the largest names in the industry, Nintendo, meanwhile, has mostly been quiet on that front.
While even small studios like The Quarry's Supermassive Games are getting bought up, Nintendo has mostly just focused on doing their own things, only acquiring long-time partner SRD earlier this year and now, adding another partner of theirs to the list with Dynamo Pictures. Nintendo Acquires Dynamo Pictures.
Nintendo fans will likely recognise the Tokyo-based Dynamo pictures from their work with Nintendo IPs such as the series of Pikmin short movies and their assistance in producing cutscenes for Metroid: Other M.
The studio has quite a portfolio of work outside of Nintendo as well, producing CG for multiple TV shows such as Yuri on Ice and Netflix's Ghost in The Shell SAC_2045 and also working on the CG used in Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Outside of CG, Dynamo was also known for their work with motion capture, working to help develop hugely successful titles such as Persona 5, Monster Hunter World, Nier Replicant and Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding.
In Nintendo's official notification of the acquisition, it was hinted that the purpose of their purchase of 100% of outstanding shares for the company was to "strengthen the planning and production structure of visual content in the Nintendo Group" with the process set to close on Monday, 3rd October 2022.
