NHL 22 Cover Athlete reveal on the way!

The news surrounding NHL 22 is really skating full speed ahead right now. Not only are we getting a reveal trailer soon, but we'll know the cover athlete the same day!

This is huge considering we've been in the dark when it comes to the NHL 22 cover athlete and nothing has been leaked.

BREAKING - NHL 22 Cover Athlete Announcement!

We knew that we were going to get a reveal trailer when it was announced earlier in the week. What we didn't know was that we'd actually find out who the NHL 22 cover athlete will be on the same day!

The announcement took us by surprise but we had hoped we'd get a glimpse at the cover athlete! Here's how @EASPORTSNHL revealed the news:

The flashing of all the previous cover athletes really gets you excited to find out who's going to grace the cover this year.

Cover Athlete Candidates

So, there are a couple of candidates that we see potentially making the cover of NHL 22. These are guys that had incredible seasons last year and are, of course, fan favorites.

Popularity is big when it comes to a cover athlete, in NHL 21, Alex Ovechkin made the cover for the second time.

There are a few guys that we think would make the best cover athlete in NHL 22, each of whom has the potential to be a great option.

• Nathan MacKinnon - Recorded 65 points and 45 assists in 2021
• Leon Draisaitl - Led the NHL in points in 2019 - 2020 season
• Connor McDavid - Could potentially be a repeat cover athlete, much like Ovechkin

Reveal Trailer is almost here!

Along with the reveal of the NHL 22 cover athlete, we'll get our first look at the game on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
