With many eyes on the final pay per view before WrestleMania, WWE Fastlane delivered in giving us some of the best moments of this year, finally giving us an idea on the SmackDown Live side of things at WrestleMania. Here were the five moments that stood out.

  1. 1 Bludgeon Brothers make their mark

Although it brought an amazing match to an abrupt end, The Bludgeon Brothers making their mark in the tag team division was one of the best things to happen during Fastlane. Having them attack both The Usos and The New Day proved that they are ready to challenge for the tag team titles, with the attack on both teams potentially leading to some type of triple threat match to happen at WrestleMania. The Bludgeon Brothers have been dominating and destroying jobbers for months. It looks like WrestleMania could be their time to prove that they are ready to be tag team champions.

  2. 2 Shinsuke Nakamura vs Rusev

While it may have only been booked five days before the show, Shinsuke Nakamura vs Rusev was a great way to open the night. Not only did it serve a purpose to put Shinsuke over just before his main event world title match at WrestleMania against AJ Styles, but it also showed just how over Rusev is, with the crowd having duelling Nakamura/Rusev Day chants throughout the entire match. This match could easily be added to one of the best in Fastlane's history and the ending did what it had to do, which bodes well for the SmackDown Live creative team.

  3. 3 New Day & Usos deliver again

While it was abruptly ended by The Bludgeon Brothers, before that happened, Usos vs New Day was like a flashback to their rivalries which led to their intense Hell in a Cell match back in October. The New Day vs The Usos has always been an incredible match and the chemistry they share in the ring proves that. While it wasn't as good as their previous encounters, we got something fun and different as both teams tried to steal the other's signature moves. The Usos vs The New Day can definitely go down as one of the greatest tag team rivalries of all time and will definitely be able to involve this match when discussing some of their best.

  4. 4 Asuka chooses Charlotte

When Asuka won the first ever Women's Royal Rumble back in January, everyone was wondering which championship she would challenge for, with even the commentary team assuming she would stay on Raw. It was a huge surprise when Asuka showed up moments after Charllotte Flair retained the SmackDown Live Women's Championship and set her sights on challenging Charlotte for the title at the Show of Shows, which also means the Raw Women's Championship picture for 'Mania is now up in the air with Asuka switching brands.

  5. 5 AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura is official

With it being known that Shinsuke Nakamura would challenge for the WWE Champiosnhip at WrestleMania, the biggest question was who he would be facing. After winning a six-pack challenge at Fastlane, it has now been set in stone that WWE Champion AJ Styles will defend the title against Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania. The dream match that many WWE fans have been hoping for is now officially on for WrestleMania.

Wrestling is my life. It's the only thing I am 100% passionate about. I started watching it when I was about six years old. The first event I saw was a VHS tape of SummerSlam 1991. My favorite wrestlers of all time are The Undertaker, Kane, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho and Edge. My favorite wrestlers right now are Millie McKenzie, Baron Corbin, The Miz, Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Wrestling is definitely my main passion.
