The former world champion and purveyor of odd hair choices is the final televised pick as Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley select Sheamus 30th overall.
Sheamus did not make our Top 30 Big Board, but that is not to damn this pick. Sheamus can certainly fill a role on Raw and is a good hand in the ring. He wasn’t ranked, despite his recent stint as WWE World Heavyweight Champion, because there is a very, very large section of the fan base that has just grown tired of him. Sheamus is 28 and this year marks his 10th with WWE. A lot of that has been as a John Cena-lite which only serves to annoy older fans and leave younger ones just wanting the real thing. Initially this heel turn looked like it would work out, but he was quickly shuffled into the pack and even as WWE World Heavyweight he was never presented as a serious competitor. There is very little momentum behind Sheamus at the moment, but as I said he can certainly hold his own in the ring and has underrated mic skills. It’s not the worst pick made today.
