After the chaos of Money In The Bank it seems odd to be talking about the bigger picture rather than what is happening in the ring, but after today’s announcement we have to talk about it. WWE confirmed the time and place for their brand-split draft. 19th July on the first live edition of Smackdown. The timing of it makes absolute sense. What better way to get eyes on the new live Smackdown than to put the biggest announcement of the company’s recent history there? What you know where you can see John Cena? Better watch Smackdown. Big fan of AJ Styles? Better watch Smackdown. Massive NXT fan and don’t want to stop seeing Shinsuke Nakamura or Finn Balor? Watch Smackdown. Another reason for placing the draft there is that it is the last show before the “Battleground” pay per view. The perfect time to settle old feuds before the split, or start new alliances would be on Battleground. Putting the draft on the 19th of July also gives WWE a chance to build up to crowning a new brand champion at SummerSlam at the end of August as well. All in all, it’s an exciting time to be a WWE fan.
