With the significant hype of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, which you can find out more about here, there has been constant speculation that WWE may bring back the Cruiserweight Division to one of their main shows. The main expectation was that it might come to SmackDown due to the “New Era” feel with the re-emergence of the SmackDown brand.
Instead, likely thanks to their longer show, Stephanie McMahon announced tonight that the Cruiserweight Division would be returning to WWE television and would be the exclusive property of Monday Night Raw. Stephanie did not confirm whether or not we’d see a Cruiserweight Championship come back, but that seems to be a given along with this news.
Between big names such as Neville returning soon and the splitting of the Lucha Dragons, WWE already has some options for cruiserweights, but there’s no telling how many competitors from the Cruiserweight Classic could leverage their performances into opportunities on Raw.
Stay tuned to RealSport for full coverage of the WWE Draft tomorrow to see which cruiserweights are selected by Monday Night Raw’s Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and General Manager Mick Foley!
