Conor McGregor joining WWE?
After several days of ominous tweets about his history, and a bombshell stating his retirement, the internet is running riot at the possibility of Conor McGregor jumping the UFC ship. Dana White has pulled McGregor from the UFC 200 card, supposedly due to McGregor’s $10 million paycheque demand. Conor has also started following Triple H and Stephanie on Twitter, adding fuel to the fire. Dana White is quoted as saying “Is Conor McGregor retiring? Only he can answer that question. I don’t know. But he will not be a part of UFC 200.” ‘The notorious MMA’ isn’t one to mince his words, and if this a cheap ploy to simply get more money then it could make the champ seem disingenuous. McGregor has a 1.5 million strong die hard fanbase on Twitter who believe in his ‘come from nothing’ history. Amongst these is WWE’s own Becky Lynch: https://twitter.com/BeckyLynchWWE/status/722537488103915520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
Stone Cold Steve Austin needing surgery
Jim Ross has stated in his latest podcast that Stone Cold Steve Austin’s niggling shoulder problem was brought to a head at Wrestlemania, when he landed his first punch on Rusev. Austin was joined in the ring by fellow hall of famers Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels to take out The League of Nations. The trooper that he is, just like against Owen Hart, Austin finished the segment and of course the pop was memorable. We wish him all the best!
Is Seth Rollins close to a return?
The WWE Universe is waiting with bated breath for the return of Seth Rollins, and it may be coming sooner rather than later. Rollins recently was featured in a YouTube video working out in a gym, where he seemed to show no hint of the knee damage that has sidelined him since November. While it’s hard to tell from this video along the state of his health – after all, we don’t know what’s been edited out of the footage – it gives fans hope that Rollins will be back on our screens before long.
TNA in financial meltdown?
The much-criticised TNA, the promotion that once fancied themselves as the WCW’s spiritual successor as a challenger to the WWE, is allegedly “out of money“. The Jarretts’ baby has suffered setback after setback, from their flagship “Impact Wrestling” show moving to three networks in three years, to being snubbed by former crown jewel AJ Styles at the beginning of 2016 in favour of the WWE. Now, it looks like current owner Dixie Carter will be forced to sell the promotion, with only one interested potential buyer, Aroluxe Marketing. If that falls through, it might spell the end of TNA.
Viktor joining the Social Outcasts?
Finally, a photo from a WWE house show suggests that Viktor maybe now be a member of the Social Outcasts. This would make some sense – Viktor’s Ascension teammate, Konnor, was recently suspended by the WWE for failing to abide by the company’s “Wellness Policy”, as was Social Outcasts member Adam Rose. With Viktor at a loose end and the Social Outcasts down a member, it appears the WWE have decided to simply slot Viktor in to be the fourth member of the WWE’s odds-and-sods stable.
