SmackDown Live Preview: Orton faces Nakamura with championship implications

Who will earn a shot at Jinder Mahal's WWE Championship? Also, Natalya takes on Carmella in singles action.

Championship opportunity

Last week, Randy Orton left Shinsuke Nakamura laid out in the ring just moments after teaming up together and winning their tag match. The Viper cut their celebration short when he hit the King of Strong Style with an RKO out of nowhere.

In tonight’s main event, the two will face each other in singles competition where the winner will earn himself a title shot against WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. With the Modern Day Maharaja keeping a close watch, the two competitors are sure looking to send a message to the champion with their performance.

Who will emerge victorious in tonight’s main event?

Cash-in preview

SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya is scheduled to take on Ms. Money in the Bank Carmella in singles action. For weeks, Carmella has been teasing about a potential cash in of her Money in the Bank briefcase but will tonight be the night?

The last time around, James Ellsworth squealed Carmella’s plans to cash-in thus putting the Princess of Staten Island’s plans on hold. Cash-in or no cash-in, one thing is for certain, that we are definitely going to see a preview of their imminent face off in the future.

The wrath of KO continues

Kevin Owens continues to prove his point by injecting himself into the match of Sami Zayn and Aiden English last week. Owens grabbed the referee’s t-shirt and put it on himself then helped English win.

KO may have proven his point, but how will SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon address last week’s incident? Is he going to buy into the taunts of Kevin Owens?

Also notable…

Just this week, SmackDown Live color commentator JBL announced that he is stepping down from his post on commentary. The Blue Brand welcomes Corey Graves from Monday Night Raw to take over the vacant post.

As interesting as a Corey Graves-Byron Saxton reunion on color commentary is Dolph Ziggler’s “star power” that he so talks about. The show-off has been delaying his big reveal but will this week be the time we see the new Dolph Ziggler?

The Usos are the ones who are going to choose the stipulations for their tag team title rematch against The New Day. What match are the champs going to pick?
