As this is WWE and their programme is so very formulaic, expect Shinsuke Nakamura to get his rematch against Jinder Mahal at Hell in a Cell in October.
Shane McMahonor Daniel Bryan would book them in the titular match to keep the Singh Brothers out of the match entirely so as to ensure a clean and decisive finish.
However, the Singh Brothers will probably still get involved at some point to cost Shinsuke Nakamura the match. WWE are reportedly planning on going on an Indian tour with Jinder headlining as WWE Champion so, one way or another, Jinder is winning the rematch.
The Return of the King of Strong Style
I am not just talking about the nickname, but God knows WWE need to stop referring to Shinsuke Nakamura as ‘The Artist’.
What this refers to is the return of the Shinsuke Nakamura that tore the house down in his debut match against Sami Zayn at NXT TakeOver: Dallas.
It goes without saying that Shinsuke Nakamura has not been the same since he was called up to SmackDown following WrestleMania 33. His feud with Dolph Ziggler, which should have guaranteed good matches at least, was a flop and set the tone for an underwhelming run both in and out of the ring.
While he had an excellent match with John Cena in the lead-up to SummerSlam, it did not feel like a true showcase of what Shinsuke Nakamura could do.
Put simply, Shinsuke Nakamura needs to be unleashed. He needs to be the Shinsuke Nakamura that convinced WWE to sign him in the first place, not the version that has been beaten down by a WWE system that does not showcase the true glory of Strong Style wrestling.
The version of Nakamura that ruled over NXT could be a star in the making in WWE.
The version of Nakamura that stunk up SummerSlam with Jinder Mahal is destined to be an afterthought.
King of Strong Style vs The Phenomenal One
If WWE wants to pull Nakamura from the WWE Title picture before he is completely ready, there is another title that Nakamura could go for at Hell in a Cell, and it would throw up a WrestleMania main event worthy dream match: AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura.
If there is an opponent that could draw the best from Shinsuke Nakamura, it is AJ Styles. He is one of the best talents in the world and also has a history with Shinsuke Nakamura, putting on a classic with the Japanese star at Wrestle Kingdom 10.
Feeding into the Kevin Owens vs Shane-O-Mac story, the GM could book an over the top rope battle royale, which Nakamura would win, last eliminating KO.
From that it is set, AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the United States Championship at Hell in a Cell. Such is the caliber of both men, the match would feel hampered by the Hell in a Cell stipulation. Simply putting the two in the ring in a regular match would steal the show at the event.
It is unlikely that the WWE would waste such a match on a B show such as Hell in a Cell but, after teasing it at Money in the Bank, the people are ready to see the two square off in a match we never thought we would ever see in WWE.
