This week’s episode opened with a video package promoting the return of War Machine and the fact they have match for the Ring of Honor Tag Titles in the main event. Unfortunately, the advertised TV title match between Kenny King and Mark Briscoe was canceled due to Briscoe’s elbow injury.
The Kingdom conspiracy continues
In the night’s opening match, The Kingdom continued their claims of being the rightful #1 contenders as they picked up a win over Coast to Coast and The Dawgs. This was an OK match which ticked all the usual boxes of an ROH multi team tag match, with lots of dives and chaos. With Matt Taven on commentary, they heavily played up The Kingdom ‘conspiracy’, claiming they deserve a title match since they hold a win over Chris Sabin. It looks like we’ll be getting that title match sometime soon.
The fans want Dalton, Cody gives them Nova
Cody came out and said he would give a title match to somebody that everybody wanted to see him face. The crowd chanted for Dalton Castle but Cody said since Dalton wasn’t in the building, he would be giving another wrestler a title match. He called out ROH trainee Ryan Nova, saying he was the #1 contender. Nova is apparently only eight months into his training but he showed some charisma here. It didn’t take Cody long to win, making the rookie tap out to the American Deathlock. Dalton Castle appeared after the match, saying he wasn’t impressed with Ring of Honor’s most expensive acquisition and that Cody’s title reign so far has been lackluster. He told Cody to give the fans what they want and to give him a title match. Cody replied by taking a little shot at WWE, telling Dalton he could make a call and get a developmental contract so he can go and develop his talent with his old Ring of Honor buddies. This angered Castle and he proceeded to lay the champ out, telling him he will take his title away.
The Addiction spoil another match
War Machine made their return as they tried to become two-time champs against the Motor City Machine Guns. The much bigger Hanson and Rowe used their size to control the match early on before The Guns took to the skies to level things up. This was a battle of power and speed, and seemed to be heading the way of power as War Machine had things won, only for The Addiction to come out and interfere in another match. Spraying Hanson with silly string distracted the big man and Sabin took advantage by rolling Hanson up for the win. The fans are loving The Addictions gimmick of late and a match with War Machine is definitely something many are looking forward to seeing.
Ring of Honor will be back next week as The Addiction take on The Best Friends.
