NXT Preview: Bobby Roode has unfinished business (August 30 2017)

Bobby Roode may have ascended to the ranks of the main roster but still has unfinished business to settle with Roderick Strong. Who will win in tonight's main event?

Unfinished business

TakeOver: Brooklyn III was a bad night for the now-former NXT Champion Bobby Roode. Not only did he lose his NXT title, but he was also mocked by Roderick Strong backstage as the Messiah of the Backbreaker blew him a kiss.

Roode, of course, was the one who fired the first shots in his rivalry with Strong when Roode disrespected Strong’s family. Roode blew the same kiss to Strong’s fiance and mother who were watching ringside in a previous episode of NXT, so Brooklyn saw Strong returning the favor.

For weeks, Roderick Strong has wanted to get his hands on Bobby Roode for that incident after their title match at Full Sail, and that kiss-blowing at Brooklyn won’t be enough to placate him. Roode stated that once he has handled his unfinished business with Strong, he plans on invoking his rematch clause on Drew McIntyre and get his title back.

Will the Glorious one be able to end his business with Strong, or will the Messiah of the Backbreaker send him off to SmackDown Live for good?

McIntyre speaks

Drew McIntyre may have captured the NXT Championship, but as we saw in Brooklyn, an NXT newcomer isn’t going to give McIntry time to enjoy his success. Adam Cole attacked McIntyre from behind as he was celebrating his victory over Roode, posing over McIntyre’s body with fellow recent ex-ROH signees Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly.

Tonight, McIntyre will finally address the NXT Universe on what’s next for him, and he’s almost certainly going to talk about the ambush that occured at TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Is he going to give Adam Cole an immediate title match? What does Fish and O’Reilly’s alliance with Cole mean for the NXT Champion?

Also Notable…

Speaking of Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, they laid to waste both SAnitY and the Authors of Pain almost two weeks ago at TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Despite having just gone through a hard-fought tag team title match, it was surprising how easily manhandled the bigger men were handled by the team formerly known as reDRagon. Are we going to see Fish and O’Reilly dominate NXT’s tag team division?

Asuka has turned in her NXT Women’s Championship putting an end to her 515-day reign as champion. Who will step up and stake a claim on the vacant title?
