As we enjoy WWE’s much anticipated “Cruiserweight Classic” we here at Real Sport are taking a look at some of the competitors that WWE have handpicked from around the world.
Today the man in the spotlight is Raul Mendoza.
Where He Wrestles
Raul Mendoza has been competing for over ten years, mostly on the circuit in Mexico with the likes of AAA and Perros Del Mal. He was trained under luchadors such as El Gran Apache and Ricky Marvin, and has traveled the world and made a name for himself even in places such as Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH.
Mendoza’s idol growing up was Eddie Guerrero, not unlike many others in Mexico. With his travels and experience around the world, Raul Mendoza has taken a standard lucha libre style but mixed in bits and pieces of other styles. He’s dynamic, and a mix of high-flying, hard-hitting power, and superior striking ability will make him a dangerous competitor.
Mendoza has a big opportunity to make a statement in this tournament, but he’ll likely not get long to do so. Mendoza is slated to face The Brian Kendrick in his opening match, and it’ll be an uphill battle against the veteran. If he can showcase his skills though, this could be a huge opportunity for Mendoza to get his name out there.
