As we draw closer to WWE’s much anticipated “Cruiserweight Classic” we here at Real Sport are taking a look at some of the competitors that WWE have handpicked from around the world.
Today the man in the spotlight is Alejandro Saez.
Where He Wrestles
Alejandro Saez will be representing Chile in the Cruiserweight Classic, but he is no stranger to the squared circle. He’s competed in Xtreme Latin American Wrestling in Mexico and has become a staple in Chile’s XNL (Xplosion Nacional de Lucha Libre), and Saez even currently holds the XNL World Championship. Saez is better known as Xtra Large, or XL, but he’s looking at a new beginning here in the Cruiserweight Classic.
While most of his experience is in the world of lucha libre, Saez actually wrestles more of a technical japanese strong style. He’s a student of the game, and having seen time in the ring with Super Crazy, Neville, and almost the entire chilean wrestling scene has given Saez a very strong foundation to build upon. Top that off with Shane McMahon being one of his personal heroes, and you know that he won’t hold anything back inside the squared circle.
Like several others in this tournament, Saez has essentially already won by getting the opportunity and vast exposure that his participation will bring. He’s an underdog, and his chances are slim against first-round opponent Gran Metalik, but don’t sleep on this chilean superstar.
