In a shocking turn of events, WWE has abruptly released Big Cass, real name William Morrissey, from his contract. The tweet also links to an article on WWE.com confirming the news.

Considering his recent push to get more TV time on SmackDown Live and having just competed on PPV two days ago against Daniel Bryan, this isn't a move anyone expected. Big Cass has had a solid singles run as of late, but is best known for his tag team work with Enzo Amore.

Following a rape allegation, Amore was released in January of this year. Now, for reasons unknown, the other half of that team is also gone from WWE. There's no news yet on the reasons behind his release or who made the decision, Cass or WWE.

This story is developing and we will add more information as it comes to light.
