Baron Corbin: why losing to Cena could be the final nail in his coffin

Failing a cash-in doesn't always bode well. I look at how Corbin's failure to cash-in the contract could be the final nail in his coffin

With many people thinking that Corbin would cash in at SummerSlam, WWE decided to surprise everyone on the go-home show by having Corbin interfere in the main event match between John Cena and Jinder Mahal, attacking Cena, causing a disqualification.

Epic failure

Corbin then decided to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on Mahal. As the bell rang, he punched Cena and was then rolled up by Mahal, getting pinned and causing Corbin to fail his cash-in.

Some people could argue that Cena caused Corbin to lose the match, but from the live broadcast, it looked like Corbin got easily distracted which allowed Jinder to roll Corbin up and make him the third person to fail a cash-in. It makes all of the fans watching feel stupid for caring about Corbin winning the Money in the Bank when they made him fail the cash in such anti-climactic fashion.

What’s the point?

Before cashing in Money in the Bank, Baron Corbin was scheduled to face John Cena at SummerSlam. If having Baron fail his cash in was to give his match with Cena more of a reason to happen, then that it is just stupid.

Baron Corbin against John Cena is one of the less important matches at SummerSlam and having Corbin cash in unsuccessfully before the show proves that maybe WWE didn’t really have any plans for Corbin to become WWE Champion.

The end is nigh

Having Cena defeat Corbin at SummerSlam is a result that he can never come back from. If Corbin loses, especially clean, to Cena at SummerSlam, I would not be surprised if Baron Corbin ends up getting released in the next batch of “budget cuts”.

Losing to Cena will definitely be the final nail in the coffin that is Corbin’s career. There is no way that he can come back from that, especially after losing his cash-in match.

How do you think a loss to Cena would affect Corbin’s career? Let us know in the comments below!

Wrestling is my life. It's the only thing I am 100% passionate about. I started watching it when I was about six years old. The first event I saw was a VHS tape of SummerSlam 1991. My favorite wrestlers of all time are The Undertaker, Kane, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho and Edge. My favorite wrestlers right now are Baron Corbin, The Miz, Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. I am so passionate about WWE that I can predict at least 95% of all the results.
