With the IPL just a few months away the same question is on a lot of fans tongue. Can the Royal Challengers Bangalore finally win the competition? Constantly billed as the team to beat they have always fallen short. Is this year finally the year they can take the steps required to make it over the finish line. The team certainly has an all-star line up, plenty of fans and an amazing home ground and an excellent Head Coach in Daniel Vetorri! Having retained, Gayle, De Villiers, Kohli, Starc the foundation of a quality side remains. Undoubtedly the RCB are a bit short in the bowling department, but with Gayle, De Villiers and Kohli as the top 3 they should be looking to bat any side out of the game. But who else have they got who can put in a performance. South African David Wiese enjoyed a tremendous season last year with both bat and ball. His performances were so impressive that Darren Sammy, widely loved and rated throughout the cricketing world could barely get a look in. Another exciting prospect is the young Sarfaraz Khan who broke onto the scene last year with shot play to rival De Villiers. Currently enjoying success with the India U19’s he looks set to have another great breakthrough season in the IPL. So with this hotbed of talent can this finally be their year? The bookies currently have them at second favourite behind the team that will take the place of the Chennai Super Kings to create the Rajkot franchise so clearly they are expected to go far. T20 cricket does constantly throw up odd results though, and unless they strengthen their bowling attack it could be a tall task. Virat Kohli is in rich form as ever, and if he can steer India to a T20 world cup success in March he will be full of confidence, and will back his ability to continue any success he enjoys with India with the RCB. RCB have all the tools in place to have a successful tournament, whether the talent they have on paper can translate to the cricket field, remains to be seen but having made it to the qualifier last year and only narrowly losing out to eventual champions Mumbai Indians the signs are there that this could finally be the RCB’s year.   Want to read more?
