With the NFL’s top 100 well under way, we here at Real Sport thought we would give you our own version; The RS 100. Every writer here had the chance to vote for the 100 best players from the 2015 season. This ranking was done regardless of position value or salary cap cost. It was simply based on who had the best 2015 season. As a result you won’t see quality players like Jordy Nelson anywhere on our ranking as he didn’t play a single snap in the 2015 season. Voting panel: Toby Durant, Remy Cabache, Cameron Tennyson, Rebecca Rennie, Daniel Hernandez, David Pruett, Ryan Tolster

Josh Norman, Cornerback, Carolina Panthers (now Washington Redskins)

(TD: #8, RC: #44, CT: #40, RR: #22, DH: #16, DP: #22, RT: #12) Love him or hate him, Josh Norman had a truly brilliant 2015. He had been a good corner before 2015, but in taking the leap to extraordinary meant that Norman had that sweet spot in a corner’s life where people still throw at you and you are good enough to make plays – for a while anyway. Norman finished 2015 with 4 interceptions and 18 passes defended. Great numbers for an elite corner. Carolina had a spectacular record against #1 receivers as well. What makes Norman so effective is his outrageous closing speed and quick decision making. Norman 1 Norman identifies the attempted screen so early here and flies down hill to make the tackle. In this game he limited the great DeAndre Hopkins to 2 catches and 24 yards. Carolina played a lot of zone defense in 2015, taking advantage of their excellent range at linebacker. It also meant that that quick decision making and breaking on the ball demonstrated above were able to run wild on the league. But when asked to Norman could also go toe to toe with some of the best.   Here he is diving in to break up a slant for Julio Jones, which is no mean feat. Norman 3 Then there is this…

That is TY Hilton that he’s running step for step with! It’s plays like the above that got Norman paid like the best cornerback in the NFL this offseason, because quite frankly he was in 2015. Whether his talents will fit in with what Washington ask him to do we’ll have to wait and see, but for now we have the crazy yet immensely watchable car-crash against Odell Beckham Jr and plays like this to remember an incredible 2015 season by…     Norman 4
