AFC Divisional Game #2
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Denver Broncos, Sunday January 17th, 4:40pm EST
We’ve got quite a game on our hands with this one. The last of four Divisional round playoff games sees the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Denver Broncos. The Steelers were able to beat their AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals last weekend and come into this one with mixed emotions. On one side they’re one game away from the AFC Championship game, on the other they’ll be without star WR Antonio Brown. The big Ben vs. Peyton match-up will be one to watch. Let’s see what Madden has to say!
The Steelers found themselves in a hostile environment in Denver but Ben Roethlisberger simply did not care. He opened the game 4 for 4 and led the Steelers into the Broncos red zone. All looked to be going well until D’Angelo Williams coughed the ball up and the Broncos defense recovered. The game was scoreless into the second quarter when Peyton Manning decided it was his turn to shine in the battle of star quarterbacks. Peyton lead a beautiful drive down the field which seemed destined for a touchdown. However, the Steelers defense held strong and limited the Broncos to a field goal. Back and forth scoreless drives led to the Broncos driving looking to extend their lead before the half. Peyton Manning was within field goal range before throwing an interception with 11 seconds to go in the half. 3-0 Broncos at halftime. Just like the game earlier today, this one was another low scoring affair. Peyton Manning once again had his Broncos offense in the red zone and improbably threw a second interception giving the ball back to Big Ben. Minutes later, the tables were turned as the Steelers moved into prime scoring position. Finally a touchdown, as Ben Roethlisberger connected on a 4 yard touchdown pass giving the Steelers a 7-3 advantage with just under two minutes to go. What would an NFL playoff game be without drama. Peyton Manning on the 7 yard line with 4 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter. It was a now or never moment. Peyton took the snap in the shotgun, waited, and found Norwood in the end zone for the game-winning TD. That was all she wrote as the Broncos advanced leaving the Pittsburgh faithful with a sour taste in their mouths. Let’s wait and see if Madden can correctly predict the thrilling match-up we’re bound to witness this Sunday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXe4leJJyd4&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34TCxIVtC58&feature=youtu.be Enjoy the playoff weekend!
