  • Dez Bryant got x-rays on his surgically repaired right foot yesterday. It would appear all is well for the wide receiver, who could participate in limited drills shortly. Though the prevailing opinion seems to be that he will be held out of any drills until training camp in July.
  • Rookie wide receiver Josh Doctson is also suffering from a foot issue. Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden has said that Doctson could be out of practice until next week. Apparently this issue has no relationship to the achilles problem Doctson suffered in early May. Fellow rookie Kendall Fuller, who has been recovering from microfracture surgery, hasn’t taken part in the ‘Skins rookie minicamps but he should be cleared to participate by training camp.
  • The Detroit Lions have had to place tight end Tim Wright on season ending IR after the fourth-year player tore his ACL. This places the Lions in an awkward position when it comes to the tight end position as Brandon Pettigrew is currently recovering from his own ACL tear – suffered in December – and Eric Ebron has been suffering with an undisclosed injury that kept him out of OTA’s last week.
  • Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin is making solid progress as he comes back from a torn ACL that kept him out of the whole 2015 season.
  • Colin Kaepernick is yet to be cleared for football activities as he recovers from a litany of issues including knee and shoulder problems.
  • Walter Thurmond has become the latest active NFL player to retire before the age of 30. After reinventing himself as a safety last season Thurmond is apparently leaving offers of $4 million a year on the table by walking away from football. It would seem, based on his recent twitter activity, that concerns about concussions and CTE have fuelled Thurmond’s decision to step away from the NFL at such an early age.
